Patmos

Significado
Patmos was a small, rocky island in the Aegean Sea, used by the Romans as a place of exile. Its biblical significance lies in being the place where the apostle John, banished for the sake of the gospel, received the vision recorded in the book of Revelation.
Sobre o lugar

Patmos is a small island in the Aegean Sea, part of the Dodecanese archipelago, off the coast of Asia Minor.

At the end of the first century, under Roman persecution, the apostle John was exiled there because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. He himself describes this condition in Revelation 1:9.

It was on this isolated island, “on the Lord’s Day,” that John saw the risen Jesus in glory, among seven golden lampstands. There he received the command to write what he saw and send it to the seven churches of Asia.

Patmos shows that no exile can silence the voice of God. Isolated from the world, the aged apostle became the instrument through whom Christ revealed to his servants the things that must soon take place, in the last book of the Bible.

O lugar hoje
