A identidade da nação
The United Kingdom brings together four nations, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, under a centuries old constitutional monarchy. For centuries it was one of the hearts of Western Christianity: revivals were born here, Bible translations were produced here, and a missionary movement carried the gospel to almost every continent.
Today the spiritual landscape is very different. Although most people still call themselves Christian, practiced faith has declined sharply, and more than a third of the population say they have no religion. Historic churches have emptied out, many buildings have become cafes, shops or museums, and entire generations have grown up with no living contact with the gospel.
At the same time, immigration has turned the country into one of the most diverse societies in the world. London and other major cities are home to Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and many other communities, and peoples who would have little access to the gospel in their countries of origin now live alongside Christian churches. In some neighborhoods, immigrant congregations are among the liveliest in the country.
There is broad religious freedom and safety for Christians, so external pressure is low. The great challenge is not persecution but indifference: a drift from religion that treats faith as irrelevant, and a spiritual emptiness that coexists with material abundance.
The nation that once sent missionaries to the world has itself become a vast field of need. Where revival once flourished, people now pray for a new awakening, and for a church that reaches both the secular Briton and the newly arrived neighbor from another culture.
The United Kingdom occupies the British Isles, in the northwest of Europe, separated from the continent by the English Channel. It is an archipelago of varied landscapes: plains and hills in the south, mountains and lakes in Scotland and Wales, and a coastline indented on every side. Despite its modest size, it holds a great population density and some of the most influential cities in the world.
Battered fish with fried potatoes, the country's most popular dish.
Roasted meat with potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, a Sunday family tradition.
A hearty breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, beans and toast.
Minced lamb pie topped with mashed potato.
Sausages served over mashed potato with gravy.
Layered dessert of cake, fruit, custard and whipped cream.

Áreas de batalha espiritual e cativeiro cultural a serem cobertas em oração. Toque em cada ponto para entender:
Faith is treated as irrelevant or outdated, and God is left out of public life.
Prosperity and consumption take the place of meaning and hope.
Personal autonomy taken to the extreme weakens bonds and community.
Emptied buildings and the loss of living faith in old historic churches.
Confidence in reason and science often dismisses the transcendent.
Alcohol, drugs and gambling mark the lives of many.
Isolation and disconnection affect the elderly, the young and newcomers.
Relativism dilutes the sense of truth, right and wrong.
Mysticism, occultism and alternative beliefs fill the void left by faith.
Tensions between the nations of the Kingdom and debates over identity and union.
Fame, sport and screens become an escape and an object of devotion.
Many call themselves Christian with no real connection to Christ or the church.
In the United Kingdom there is broad religious freedom and legal protection for Christians, so persecution is low. Churches operate freely, and faith can be practiced and shared without threat from the state.
The challenge is of another kind: a social and cultural pressure that treats faith as irrelevant or inconvenient. In some settings, Christians report embarrassment or hostility when expressing their convictions at work or in public. For converts from other religions, the greatest pressure usually comes from their own family or community of origin.
The central obstacle is not physical suffering but spiritual indifference and the drift from religion that has emptied out church life in the nation.
O score de perseguição vai de 0 a 100: quanto maior, maior a pressão sobre os cristãos.
The United Kingdom brings together dozens of people groups, with 46 considered unreached and 23 languages still without a complete Bible. Most of the unreached live in the major cities: Muslim, Hindu and Sikh immigrant communities from South Asia, the Middle East and other regions. Alongside them is the immense challenge of reaching the secularized local population, which has grown up with no living contact with the gospel.
